Dude, I can’t believe summer is almost over. Summer 2011, hands down, has been my most eventful and memorable summer. I hung out with best friends, reconnected with old friends, and made new friends. I focused on family, friends, and fun since this officially my last free summer before I enter the real world.
Three things I’m looking forward to in November:
- Audit Staff start date!!
- Credits for FAR and BEC expire (i fell for the oh-18-months-to-pass-feels-like-more-than-enough-time trick)
- Bonus check for passing the CPA
P.S. Special offer from our friendz at Roger CPA:

After I told the Big4 firm about my pending offer, they shot me down. Big4 firm said they were interested, but currently don’t have a need (something along the lines of there’s no space or too many people already?) and would keep me in mind in the future.
I accepted the offer from the ‘almost offer firm‘ that I posted about in January. My start date is in the Fall and now my goal is to pass the CPA exam before my start date to qualify for my CPA exam bonus :D. I want to re-take Audit (3rd time) in early April so that I can have 2 full months of preparation for Reg/tax. I’ve only taken 1 Tax class which means I don’t know crap about Tax. I want to at least attempt to sit for Tax in every window because my FAR credit expires in November!
Also, I accepted a temp job offer with a big bank as a mortgage sales assistant. I get paid weekly to sit on my butt and process paper work. After accepting the temp job, I came across this timely WSJ article, Big Banks Face Fines on Role of Servicers.
A review of mortgage-servicing practices by U.S. regulators found serious problems with internal controls and staffing levels at the companies, which are likely to result in formal enforcement action against more than a dozen major financial institutions, according to people familiar with the situation.

Finally, I saw @RogerCPAReview on Twitter post a coupon for their CPA exam review courses: “This week only!Get $600 off the retail price of our Full Online or USB CoursesUse promo code TAXBREAK at checkout.”

I found the Wiley AUD 2011 module on ‘Ethics and Independence’ to be a difficult read (outline format with no detail). Below are the AUD CSO topics with links to references. I found the AICPA Code of Professional Conduct to be the most helpful and easy to read.
I. Engagement Acceptance and Understanding the Assignment (12% – 16%)
II. Understanding the Entity and Its Environment (including Internal Control) (16% – 20%)
III. Performing Audit Procedures and Evaluating Evidence (16% – 20%)
IV. Evaluating Audit Findings, Communications, and Reporting (16% – 20%)
V. Accounting and Review Services Engagements (12% – 16%)
VI. Professional Responsibilities (16% – 20%)
A. Ethics and Independence
B. Other Professional Responsibilities
