AUD Study Update…. I still haven’t gotten past the 2nd chapter, but I’ve got the mnemonic for the 10 GAAS standards ;)

Audit is very boring and straightforward, but the questions are tricky.  That’s all.

As for the RogersCPA free BEC lecture, check this twitter link out: http://twitter.com/rogercpa/status/15955213787 and be up at 7:45am (Pacific I’m guessing?) to register.

I’ve been meaning to mention this for a while.  For anyone without the Bisk CPA Review books and wanting a new perspective on Accounting Changes or Business Combinations should Goto the Bisk Support: Updating Supplements website and click V.38.3- Financial Accounting & Reporting, you should find a 160 Page PDF update file.  There’s also updated AICPA released Q&A’s, snippets of other chapters, and the following 2 COMPLETE chapters:

  • Chapter 11 – Reporting the Results of Operations – Pages 29-58
  • Chapter 17 – Consolidated Financial Statements – Business Combination – Pages 75-99

Yaeger sucks it up once again on their coverage of Wiley Module 16 – Business Combinations, which caused me to look for more outside help.  HOLY CRAP PHIL, please stop jumping right into topics and/or reading directly from the book.  Instead, try providing some background and quick overview/explanation on what exactly the term “business combination” refers to…  I mean, gosh darn, you’re supposed to be a teaching review course right?

Basically, the only time its worth taking notes for 2009 FAR Homestudy is when Cindy is teaching.  Everyone else reads from the book and expects you to know what everything is before hand.  Yaeger is 60% full of it when they claim to be a teaching review course.  Teaching review course my ASS.  At least Gary gives some conceptual overview on his sections.  Phil has absolutely no presentation skill whatsoever and his lack of preparation shows.  It’s quite sad since his name is on the damn CD.  The farther I get into Yaeger, the more I hate it and the fact that I spent money on false claims and lined the pockets of a crappy CPA that couldn’t find work as college professor.
