This is what I get for paying my Exam Fee Coupon 2 weeks before the testing window closes…
My Audit retake is scheduled for November 30 at 3:00 AM. And no that’s not a typo, it’s at 3 o’clock in the morning.
While looking up openings, I called the Prometric center to double check that “3:00 AM” was not a typo. Before I could even ask my question the guy on the phone said, “If this is for the CPA exam, then yes, 3 AM is correct. It is not a typo.”
About 2 hours later after receiving my exam schedule confirmation email, I got a phone call from the National Manager of Prometric in Houston. He personally called me to confirm that I was aware my exam was scheduled for 3 AM and not 3 PM (wonderful customer service!). We chit-chatted for a bit and I found out that 3 Prometric locations in Houston are opening at 2 AM to accommodate all those procrastinating future CPA’s. He said that in the final window exam spots fill up so quickly and it has been tradition for some locations to open their doors 5 hours early so they can squeeze in a few more candidates. Of course, he mentioned that this year there was an increased demand due to the coming 2011 CBT-e exam changes (PDF).
BTW, I live in Dallas and all the locations in Dallas were filled. I then checked surrounding cities and found that most were filled or the open dates were earlier than I desired. So I’ll be driving down to Katy, TX on Sunday. Luckily, a college buddy of mine happens to live 20 minutes away from the Prometric center. I thought of getting a hotel because I know I’ll be stressed and anxious the day before my exam. Since my exam is at 3am it kinda works out that my friend will be at work and I’ll have the place to myself for prayer and meditation. I’ll probably sleep all day Monday, wake up in the early evening, do my confidence jig, take my exam, and get chocolate wasted all before 9 am….
