I’ve had Wiley 2010 Test Bank for a while now, but never got around to using it.
So far, I like it. If it weren’t for the typos, outdated material, poor design & interface, and non-existent updates, then I’d prefer Wiley Test Bank over Gleim Software. Gleim’s interface, coding, updated material, and automatic updates put it ahead of Wiley. Gleim is always updating their question bank to provide the most up to date answers whereas Wiley seems to only update their question bank if by chance an editor notices that a question has become outdated (Otherwise, Wiley will just keep re-using old questions and add the newer AICPA licensed questions to make up for it).
Therefore, Wiley’s BEC Test Bank Software is comparable to Gleim since BEC material doesn’t change as often (if ever).
The feature that I like about Wiley are the ability to copy & paste questions/solutions and the answers explanations with Text Link. Gleim Software restricts users from copy & pasting their questions and answer solutions. The most Gleim allows for is to print. Wiley lets you copy and paste their text (which is formatted for Microsoft Word). I’ve noticed that the software answer explanations are more comprehensive than their book solutions (probably because of paper and printing costs). The answer explanations tell you why an answer is correct and more often than not it will even tell you why answers are incorrect. Most answer explanations are about a paragraph (3-5 sentences).
So copy & paste and comprehensive answer explanations, what about Text Link? Text Link reproduces the exact section of the Wiley BEC book where you can find the solution which will save you time and frustration from having to skim the BEC book for that 1 definition/term/sentence. Text Link usually ranges from 1 paragraph to 1 page in length. Although, there were times when the answer was not in Text Link, I was at least given a summary/conclusion paragraph over the exact topic of the question. Give then nature of BEC (>50% theory/concepts/definition-type questions), Text Link has made studying for BEC a breeze for me. And yes, you can copy and paste with Text Link.
For the reasons described above, Wiley Test Bank’s Study Mode is AWESOME. It has been the most effective way for me to study and practice Multiple Choice Questions because the answer solutions and study text are all presented on the same screen. No more flipping back in forth in the Wiley Text Book and no more writing notes with copy & paste!
There you have it. Wiley 2010 Test Bank has my approval for BEC.
BTW, I’ve really only used “Study Mode”. Study Mode lets you select the amount of questions by topic. As you answer questions, a pop-up box with the answer explanation for you selection is displayed. If you’re stumped by a question you can click Hint or Text Link icons for help.
The alternative is “Exam Mode” which selects 75 random questions for you to complete in under 180 minutes. In the past, I’ve heard that Exam Mode was worthless because it didn’t let you review your incorrect questions. I think Wiley has sort of fixed that problem. Wiley Test Bank isn’t very intuitive and only through trial & error (clicking everything) was I able to find out how to view incorrect Exam Mode questions. (Goto the Home Screen, make sure the Study Mode button is selected, then select the Exam Mode file you have previously completed from the drop down list, click Start, and click “Yes” for the pop-up which will take you to your previous exam in Study Mode). It doesn’t show your previously selected answers though.
