I plan to use this blog as a diary to chronicle my final year in college as I search for and interview for jobs. I will post my thoughts and experiences that I went through as an accounting major. If I could go back in time and start college all over again, the information contained within this blog is what I would give to the younger me. I want this blog to be useful for anyone in college, especially those looking for internships or jobs in Accounting. I hope to gain improved writing and communication skills from this blog at the cost of time spent writing informative articles.

Preview of postings to come:

  • My first semester in college
  • My first semester as a science major
  • Changing My Major: The great debate, business majors are dumber than science majors
  • My first semester as a business major
  • My first semester as an accounting major: Why, Oh why did I choose to major in accounting!
  • My first internship interview
  • Writing my first resume
  • Perfecting my resume and what to put in it
  • Discovering my GPA and its importance
  • My first full-time job interview
  • How to behave at an interview
  • Spring internship recruiting process for Accounting majors
  • Stereotypes/Generalizations as an accounting major
  • Networking can get you anything

There are a bevy of helpful resources for resumes and interviewing, but many of those resources are only helpful to people with amazing GPA’s and plentiful extracurricular activities. But, what about those who don’t have 4.0? My blog will be most helpful for those with lower GPA’s (2.5-3.0 on a 4.0 scale) and a lack of extracurricular activities.

My motto throughout college: Find an exit strategy and implement it.
